Frames and Angles during Donnie Darko
Aerial angle:
This angle is used to represent the innocent nature of the surrounding neighbourhood of which most of the movie takes place in.
Aerial angle:
This angle was used deliberately to capture the sinister message inscribed at the entrance to the school and also to show the shock of the teachers.
Close Up:
This close up was used to focus on Darko as he is about to take his anti-depressant pills
(he clearly does not look too enthusiastic about this).
Extreme Close Up:
This extreme close up shot was provided to show the significance of the book to Donnie.
Extreme Long Shot:
This shot is used to summarise the setting of the movie.
Long Shot:
This frame is used to depict Donnie and the darkness surrounding him mentally and physically.
Medium Long Shot:
An example of a typical medium long shot- displaying a figure from their head to their knees.
Medium Shot:
This frame is used to portray the inner sadness of Darko. This frame takes place whilst he's talking to his counselor.
Two Shot:
This shot is used to show a casual conversation between two people down a street. The camera pans as they walk.
Over The Shoulder (OTS) Shot:
This shot is used to show Donnie's surprise when he finds his mother looking through his room whilst also displaying her shock at the same time.
Over The Shoulder (OTS) Shot:
This shot is used to display the conversation between Donnie and his teacher.
Tilted Angle:
This angle is used to show the dysfunctional state of Donnie's mentality.
